Matt Murton is for real.

Say what you will, but Murton is for real. The kid can see the ball as well as ....ah, Grace and will develop his power. The last few great pure hitters in each of the last three decades; Rose, Gwynn, Grace were loathe for power. This kid has the potential for 25-30 hrs a year and will threaten every year for the batting title. Mark my words. You are witnessing something that only comes around once or twice every ten years. Last nights game he had a nice running catch off of Brian Giles bat. Slicing towards the left field corner off a left handed bat is awfully tough to judge but he got a nice break on the ball. His defense is steadily improving. It's a shame that he's batting 7th, but Barrett will benefit from this. Looking at the 1-7 hitters:
Cubs 1. Pierre
2. Walker
3. Lee
4. Ramirez
5. Jones
6. Barrett
7. Murton
Thats balance the cubs haven't seen since Dernier and Sandberg were were 1 and 2. Maybe this team won't be so bad after all.
